The Raptors season just ended, brutally, at the hands of LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Kyle Lowry played in the first two games and then was sidelined via injury. With free agency looming, Lowry could have played his last game for the lone Canada team.
Lowry is from Philly and Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Lowry and the 76ers have mutual interest this summer.
“Sources have said the North Philly native has been interested in playing for the Sixers for some time. The speculation only heightened once Bryan Colangelo became the president of basketball operations in April 2016. As the Raptors general manager, Colangelo acquired Lowry in a trade from the Houston Rockets on July 11, 2012. The two have remained good friends since then….And sources have always said that the Sixers planned to offer Lowry a lucrative contract this summer.”
May 12, 2017 Update:
Kyle Lowry has officially opted out of his contract with Toronto and will become an unrestricted free agent.
Will be a fun story to watch.
