BREAKING: The Boston Celtics have reportedly agreed to send the first overall pick in this year’s draft to the Philadelphia 76ers for the third overall pick and the Los Angeles Lakers 2018 first round pick (with protections). If the 76ers wind up keeping the Lakers pick, they’ll send the 2019 first round pick of the Sacramento Kings.
Talks between the two teams reportedly began Friday afternoon.
The 76ers held a full workout for potential No. 1 draft pick Markelle Fultz on Saturday afternoon.
Boston will now have the third overall pick this year, next year’s first round picks from the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers then 2019 first round picks from the Memphis Grizzlies and Los Angeles Clippers.
These picks are highly rumored to NOT all be kept and likely flipped for a superstar. However, if the 76ers indeed select Fultz first and the Lakers take Lonzo Ball second, the Celtics are sure to take Josh Jackson third overall.
Celtics GM Danny Ainge reportedly swung thoughts from drafting Fultz to possibly taking Jackson with the first pick. Therefore, he could possibly still draft Jackson while adding multiple lottery picks-to-be.
Stay tuned for more updates on the official trade.
