After signing Tim Hardaway, Jr. to a lucrative new deal, the Knicks reportedly do not see the need to keep Carmelo on the roster and will explore new trade scenarios for the All-Star forward.

On July 8th, the NY Knicks announced that the team has signed free agent Tim Hardaway Jr via a formal press release.

The Rockets have been persistent in their pursuit of Anthony, who is willing to waive his no-trade clause to join Chris Paul and James Harden in Houston, league sources told ESPN, and the Knicks do not imagine a scenario where Hardaway Jr. is sharing the floor to start the season (Woj).

One possible trade scenario out there for the Rockets and Knicks would be for the Rockets to send Trevor Ariza, Eric Gordon, Ryan Kelly, Shawn Long, Tim Quarterman, and Isaiah Taylor in exchange for Anthony.

The Cavs could be a possible other landing spot for Melo if they are willing to give up Kevin Love.

The Knicks are in a rough spot either way, as their roster is looking far from competing in the playoffs. If Melo were to be traded or get bought out, the Knicks 3 biggest remaining salaries would be Hardaway Jr, Joakim Noah, and Courtney Lee. They are still multiple star players away from being a serious threat.
