Austin Reaves declines $89M offer from Lakers, eligible for $246M next year

Austin Reaves has put the basketball world on notice by declining a four-year, $89.2 million contract extension from the Los Angeles Lakers, as reported by The Athletic’s Dan Woike, setting the stage for a potential blockbuster deal next summer. Per ESPN’s Bobby Marks, the Lakers can offer Reaves a five-year, $246 million max contract in 2026, a figure that reflects his breakout 2024-25 season where he averaged 20.2 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.5 rebounds.
